Good Art School - Intro to Sketchbook Binding
Recommended for Ages 10-16

The Good Art School - Sketchbook Series invites students to bind and fill their own handmade sketchbooks with observational drawings and notes! Each session builds on core observational drawing skills and uses a cross-curricular approach to relate observation and annotation to a variety of subjects.
In this engaging introductory course, you’ll learn the fundamentals of coptic stitch book binding and the practice of maintaining a sketchbook with local artist, educator, and Good Art Co. co-founder Shaun McCallum. In this first session, premade covers and folded paper signatures will be provided, and students will use waxed linen thread to bind a 100-page book. We will then choose from a set of objects to fill the first page with an observational drawing and notes.

Where: The Good Art Co. gallery – main studio entrance 10 Central Ave., Greenville, SC 29601
Ticket: $30 for the first bookbinding session. A 50% discount will be provided to future Sketchbook Series sessions for return students that bring back the book they made in session one.
Who Should Join: Beginners welcome! The suggested age range is 10-16, but is not required – no previous bookbinding or drawing experience necessary!
